Negotiations have stalled between two residents following a disagreement over the word fine.
The dispute began when one party asked whether the other was upset.
"Fine," came the reply.
The first party understood this to mean that matters were satisfactory.
The second party has disputed that interpretation.
Both parties have submitted evidence concerning tone, timing and facial expression.
An independent linguist was invited to assist but withdrew after receiving a message from his own wife reading, "Do whatever you want."
He is currently unavailable.
